Speaking during a sermon, the cleric said while such marriages may have worked in previous generations, she believes modern relationships are different.
"I'm seeing young men these days marrying women that are older than them. That is a red flag."
According to her, some people often point to their parents' marriages as proof that age-gap relationships can succeed, but she argued that times have changed.
"You say, 'My parents did it.' That was that generation when women were patient."
Pastor Omakwu also questioned why some men choose older partners because they consider women their own age to be immature.
"Those of you that are married, you say, 'My age mates are too childish.' You are childish."
She suggested that being younger than one's wife could create challenges around respect in the marriage.
"It's not even awkward for somebody who is older than you to be respecting you."
The pastor, however, acknowledged that her comments reflected her personal opinion and said people were free to disagree with her.
"Anyway, it's my opinion. Do whatever you want with it. If you like, nail me on the internet, I don't care. You can only nail me on the internet. You cannot nail me on the cross."
